With the group draw for the World Cup coming up on Dec. 4, all nations involved will wonder where they will land and hope that they don't land in the dreaded Group of Death. However for the United States national side, they will also wonder about one player in particular: Charlie Davies, who was severely injured in a car accident on Oct. 13 that also killed a female passenger who was in the car.In the accident, Davies suffered multiple broken bones in his right leg, a lacerated bladder and a broken elbow.Since Davies has suffered these injuries, the United States national side has earned a hard-fought draw with Costa Rica in their final World Cup qualifier, and have suffered losses in friendlies to Slovenia and Denmark while the United States continue to look for a replacement at the striker position that Davies held before the accident. However, Davies left the hospital on Nov. 4, in which Davies supposedly says that he will make a full recovery from the injuries and he should be ready by the World CupSince Davies started to become a majorcontributor for the United States in this summer's Confederations Cup, Davies has been a key factor for the United States as they went to the Confederations Cup Final and Davies also gave their the United States their first ever lead in Mexico's famed Estadio Azteca in a World Cup qualifier against Mexico in August. Also, the United States are no where as good as they used to be without Davies which will lead me into a question for you the reader: Do you think that Charlie Davies will recover in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Jerry Angelo is at again this season, adding another piece to a franchise that seems to be just a few years late.Cato June became the newest member of the Chicago Bears on Tuesday.June has not played a single down this regular season after being placed on injured reserve in August while with the Houston Texans. They reached an injury settlement in early September, making June a free agent.Angelo has made several questionable acquisitions (and non-acquisitions) during the 2009 Bears campaign. Having already signed Orlando Pace, a member of the 1926 Frankford Yellow Jackets championship squad, Angelo defended the signings at a press conference."I really think this is a great idea", said Angelo, "I mean, these guys were awesome in 2005, what can really change in four years"The Bears are in desperate need of defensive help, and June just so happens to be a former All-Pro.Angelo also said, "Don't think we're done here either We sorely need more talent.
That's why I've already put calls into John Lynch, Deltha O'Neal, and Brian Urlacher."When someone in the crowd reminded him that Urlacher was in fact still on the team, Angelo replied, "Yeah, we know he's hurt and everything, but we called him and told him to play like '2005 Brian' next season."June was unresponsive to interviews, simply making one statement, "Please get out of my bathroom."June was signed to a one year deal, and the Bears placed Pisa Tinoisamoa on Injured Reserve to make room for June.. The Brewers have agreed to terms with John Halama.Halama is much in the same position Chris Capuano is. He will get an invitation to Spring Training and will most likely start the season in Triple-A Nashville, where he will have to show himself.Halama last pitched in the majors in 2006 with Baltimore. During that time he was going through a bad divorce, and he dropped out of baseball.Halama played in the Indians' farm system in 2008 and the Braves' farm system last year Halama has a career 4.65 ERA with a winning record.

However, in the past two seasons in the minors he has posted an ERA in the same range.Halama caught the Brewers' attention with his dominant pitching in this year's winter league baseball. He is currently playing in the Dominican League and is 4-3 with a 2.15 ERA.Halama is not a dominant control pitcher, only having roughly half the amount of strikeouts to innings this winter. He also does allow quite a bit of people on base, sporting a .271 on-base percentage in winter ball and a career .290 on-base percentage in the majors. However, the Brewers did make a good move in signing Halama to a minor league deal He is a low risk pickup and a lefty to boot. If either him or Capuano have a breakout year, they could see time in the starting rotation this year.. Roger Federer waged war with David Nalbandian throughout his junior and professional tennis career. The Argentine prided himself on being the first to have “Federer’s number.” These were days before Rafael Nadal supplanted the underachieving Nalbandian as Federer’s chief antagonizer preying on the mind of the Swiss Maestro. The great Nalbandian not only possessed a keen tennis mind but was renowned as one of the cleanest ball-strikers in the game.
