The call for applications should intervene in the coming months

We are not talking of BRICS in Berlin. If the new kids that are the Brazil, the Russia, the India and China leave indifferent, a country mature as the France also offers these railway builders at Innotrans number of major markets. Over the next months, between calls of current offers on regional trains and soon launched for the replacement of the TGV, are more than 10 billion of contracts which could be decided by the SNCF, according to the actors of the sector.

All the world and, in particular, Alstom, Bombardier and Siemens a course in mind what is often referred to as the "contract of the century": replacement of approximately 300 aging TGV trainsets, for an amount close to the 7 to 8 billion euros. The call for applications should intervene in the coming months. Fairly quickly in any case to allow the SNCF to use these new trains from 2015. "We are still working on our assumptions of traffic and supply, it is this which will determine the way in which we will send to the markets," explains Alain Bullot, Director, Directorate of materiel to the SNCF.

New regional trains

The call for tenders should, however, be divided into several batches. "There is place both for trains high capacity, as the current TGV Duplex, and most versatile oars at a level", according to Alain Bullot. For the moment, Guillaume Pepy, the President of SNCF, particularly stressed the need for more capacity, which is embodied in the TGV at two levels: it represents 30 of the fleet currently, and 40 after delivery in 2014 of tenders already past. This request has not fallen in the ear of a deaf at Alstom Transport. Until now, the possibility of giving two levels to the AGV, its new high speed train, was rather skeptical leaders of Alstom Transport on the basis of the technical constraints. More now. "The TGV Duplex will be a descendant, and this could be an AGV at two levels." "It would be somehow our A380 to us", announced Philippe Mellier, President of Alstom Transport. Bombardier, it seems rather reflect to the large capacity (more than 500 seats) with the Zefiro, his future train at high speed at a level.

Other calls for tenders, the provision of new trains to the regions, involving their requirements to the SNCF. Two separate commands will be passed to these TER, one for of the multi-purpose carriers (PP, trains at a level), and another for high-density carriers (PH), their big brothers at two levels. The first concerns firm slices of 100 to 182 trains with up to 1,000 trains to the maximum. "This will be the largest regional contract never happened", said Michel Serra, Director of Alstom Transport France. In this call for tenders, the winner be known in April 2009, the French group will be to him Bombardier, fort of the contract of 700 MCO (high-capacity railcars) passed with the regions in 2001. On the PH, the decision is expected for fall 2009 with a command that should be a maximum of 850 trains.
