A Texas loss would also throw Boise State's at-large BCS bid up in the air and put them in a three-way tug of war for the remaining spot in Phoenix against Iowa and Penn State.Texas, meanwhile, could find itself in the Orange Bowl.If Iowans were to have their way, Boise State would not face the Cornhuskers and Penn State would head east to the Capital One Bowl where they belong.Result: Hawkeyes vs Cornhuskers meet in Phoenix for an epic, and historic, Fiesta.Now, I know the rest of the country would march on the heartland with pitchforks and torches lifted high at the mere thought of a Midwest BCS bowl party.Settle down.The chances of this happening are slim to none. Even if Nebraska pulls off the upset, it wouldn't be a sure thing for a lot of teamsincluding Iowato receive a BCS at-large bid.Then again, let's go back...Iowa vs Nebraska. Let that thought stew for a while.Phoenix would be overrun by the teams' fans trying to escape winter's bitter chill and mud-slinging between fans would dominate Bleacher Report and other popular sports sites, newspapers and local media.The game would be huge for local interest.However, there's a reason why these teams stopped playing each other on a regular basis a long, long time ago and I don't feel the need to mention it.The last time Iowa beat the Cornhuskers was in 1982.The Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers haven't faced off since 2000, when Nebraska welcomed Iowa to Lincoln and delivered a 42-13 shellacking against a transforming Hawkeye team with new head coach, Kirk Ferentz.A showdown between the two teams could be interesting. The Huskers had a period of struggles, including straight losses to Texas Tech and Iowa State, and Iowa's magical run faltered down the stretch.Either way, it would be an interesting year for the rebirthing of an old-time rivalryfor Iowans and Nebraskans.Meanwhile, the other 48 states would abuse every corn, country hick and redneck joke in the book as they try to defend Boise State, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati or whoever got left out in favor of Iowa.Another can of worms has been opened.I just can't help myself: Go Huskers!.
