When your bench comes in you want them to be almost as good as your starters.. Out of all the contenders i would have to say Los Angeles has the weakest bench. The most productive member of the bench is obviously Lamar Odom, even though on some nights he is inconsistent. Lamar brings energy off the bench he can play positions 1-5, he is very versatile he can score, shoot, rebound, and play defense. When the playoffs come they will need a strong showing from him every night.Shannon Brown is next in line. He brings athleticism to the table and he is a decent defender, he also brings energy with his high flying dunks he will also be crucial coming off the bench and will need to be productive to give Kobe a breather.Josh Powell has a good 15-20 foot jumper but that is basically all he brings off the bench.Farmar just doesnt seem to fit once it seems like he is coming on to the scheme of things he suprises you and goes back to his normal self.Vujacic is probably the biggest dissapointment he is supposed to be the three point sniper but instead he is a waste of space.Mbenga is a decent defender and rebounder but dont expect any points unless the ball is spoon fed to him.Last but not least Adam Morrison Mr.Irelevant enough said. The Lakers get over the hump by having one of the worst benches by having arguably the best starting line up, but when they start to play teams with a lot of depth they will need help from the bench.Overall the Lakers get a D.
Boston is almost in the same boat as LA when it comes to productive benches.Rasheed Wallace is the best player on the bench he can do it all He can stretch the floor with the three ball,he can post. Denver has a productive bench but the fact that they only bring three men off the bench hurts the starters because they are relied on so heavily.J.R. He comes off the bench but in actuality he plays about 30 mins a game so he basically starts without starting. Known for his flying blocks and rim rocking dunks he is very important to the Nuggets. He also brings pretty good man to man and off ball defense to the team.Ty Lawson brings a different pace to the game when he takes over for Billups He is a speedster and watch out for him in transition What he lacks in size he makes up for with heart and speed.

Orlandohas the best offensive bench in the NBA its almost an unofficial requirement to be a member of the Magic, you have to be able to shoot the ball with good precision, and that is what the bench does along with some good veteran leadership.Ryan Anderson shoots the ball at a high percentage and he can fill in for Rashard Lewis when needed he is almost his clone. He can get his own shot, he is a good playmaker, good handles and shoots the three ball at a good percentage. He could improve on defense though poor lateral quickness.Anthony Johnson brings his veteran leadership and uncanny ability to make plays when nothing seems like its there,The Magic's bench is good but they have a ton of shooters. They really dont have anyone who can get there own shot or slash to the hoop, they could also use some extra defenders.Overall the Magic's bench is a B. In my opinion Cleveland has the best bench out of all the contenders.
They have almost the perfect mixture of ingredients for a pefect bench. They have energy (Anderson Varejao), they have shooters ( Boobie Gibson,Zydrunas) they have defensive prowess and athletic ability (Jamario Moon,Delonte West.and they have veteran leadership.Anderson Varejao brings a load of energy off the bench he hustles, finishes at the rim, plays good defense and takes charges. Sometimes what Andy does in the course of a game doesnt always show up on the stat sheet but the end result is good for the Cavs.Daniel Gibson brings his hot shooting off the bench and improved defense and better ballhandling skills and shooting off the dribble better.Zydrunas started last year and to have him come off the bench for this team is another plus. He can shoot from virtually anywhere on the court and he can post and hit a fadeaway jumper. Ok defender blocks a good amount of shots and leads by example.Delonte west also brings a lot off the bench.
